FromSoftware's Armored Core VI Gameplay Details Revealed

At the Taipei Gameshow, Armored Core VI producer, Yasutaka Ogura revealed some new information on the title's gameplay, as well as the involvement of Dark Souls creative director Hidetaka Miyazaki.

What many FromSoftware fans might not know is that the developers haven't just made some of the most difficult and intriguing souls games, but they've also got a rich history when it comes to mech-games. The Armored Core series to be more precise.

It was revealed in 2022 that the developers were working on a fourth instalment of the Armored Core series and at the Taipei gameshow, through a live stream, producer Yasutaka Ogura revealed some new information on the gameplay of the upcoming game.

Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon - New Gameplay Information

Ogura has revealed that while it's been 10-years since Armored Core: Verdict Day was released, the team did want to bring out another part of the series much sooner. Unfortunately, due to the development of other games like Dark Souls 2 and 3, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Elden Ring, Armored Core VI had to be pushed back.

But, the developers who worked on those titles have taken much of what they learned from those game and implemented that into the next Armored Core game, which promises to be a good one, even for those who are unfamiliar with the previous titles.

Ogura explained, that Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon will be bringing a new experience to the series, but won't be too changed for long-time fans of the games either.

Free assembly and customization will continue to be a key part of the upcoming game, giving players the freedom to explore which parts work best with their mechs to take on the action of the game. He also explained that the mech assembly will be improved from previous games, making it more intuitive for those entering the series with this game.

Hidetaka Miyazaki Also Involved in Making of Armored Core VI

Miyazaki, known for his work on Dark Souls, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Elden Ring, is also involved in the making of Armored Core VI. Alongside co-director and producer Kenneth Chan he helped on the game's map design and other core elements.

He was also the initial game director, until Masaru Yamamura, who had been a lead game designer on Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, took over. The game looks quite promising and is a brand-new take on a FromSoftware game for anyone who had not known about the series before.
