God of War Ragnarök is coming out very soon, on November 9 fans can finally experience the next chapter in the story of Kratos and his son Atreus. There have only been a few trailers so far, but they have already sparked heated discussions among fans. One theory concerns Kratos, the long-lasting hero of the series, and his possible fate in Ragnarök. A lot of signs seem to point at his possible death and that has fans worried.

God of War Ragnarök Could Be The Last Game With Kratos

To vibe check this theory, people have conducted a poll on the video game forum ResetEra. A thread with the simple title "Will Kratos Die In God of War Ragnarok?" asked fans to share what they think. And while 58% of the ca. 1,200 people who voted said "no", over 40% said yes or maybe.

What we say "no" to is the price of the Ragnarök special edition:

Definitely check out the thread, the discussion under it is really interesting. And it's understandable, that fans are thinking about this. Multiple elements point to Ragnarök potentially being the end of Kratos. It has been confirmed that this will be the last GoW game set in Norse mythology. We also see a more grown-up Atreus here, who is slowly taking over the reigns. Maybe he could take over the legacy of his father.

It was especially the latest trailer that sparked this conversation, mostly due to the epic nature of the trailer and the now instantly iconic line "Death can have me, when it earns me". And the prophecy at the end of the previous game seems to suggest that Kratos might see his demise.

We think that Kratos might die in Ragnarök, but remember that this hasn't stopped him before. He will fight fate, death and anyone in his way. He might escape out of Helheim or re-appear in a different form, we don't know for sure. But Ragnarök promises to be an epic conclusion to the Norse part of Kratos' story, and we hope it sticks the landing.
