Okay, guys, let’s go back in time for a moment. This article is for all the millennials out there, since we’re going full nostalgia mode and back to the 1990s to a time completely different from today. Console games were dominating the market, and the most popular console was none other than the Nintendo 64.

One of the most popular games, released in 1998 was none other than The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and since PC gaming has become much more popular, fans who grew up with this Nintendo 64 classic have been hoping to play it on the computer. Well… you might not have to wait much longer.

Modders Create PC-Port for Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

In 2020 the source code for Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was leaked and fans have been hoping for a PC version of the game since. The hopium might have paid off though, because modders have been working hard to bring the game to the PC for us all.

A few weeks ago, video footage of the PC port was released onto YouTube. There fans could see all the work already done on the PC version. When the footage was released, it was said that the game was around 90% complete, so we might not have to wait much longer.

This version of the game should include widescreen support, upscaling, and the ability to run the game at 60fps. Hopefully those stats are true.

What About Copyright Issues?

The game has been reverse-engineered, with some assets built completely from the ground-up. This means that the port should be released without Nintendo stepping in — but then again, this is Nintendo we’re talking about.

When Will the PC Port be Available?

The PC Port, according to the modders, should be available on Aprill 1, 2022 — so let’s pray that this isn’t some sick April Fool’s joke. This unofficial Ocarina of Time is called “OpenOcarina” if you’re going to search for it.

So, now we can all sit back, relax and hope for this mod to be released in April, and that we get some news on Breath of the Wild 2 as well. Wouldn’t it just be awesome to have the old goodies, as well as the new goodies, at the same time?
