An inside report revealed, that a new Mortal Kombat movie is on its way. See here what we know so far
MORTAL KOMBAAAAT! Ok sorry, had to get that out of my system. Do you remember the Mortal Kombat movie adaptation from 2021? Yeah, I also struggled with that. But hey, it was actually pretty good! It had some unused potential though. That might be redeemed soon though, since a sequel to Mortal Kombat 2021 has just been revealed.
New Mortal Kombat Movie Is In Development
As reported by Deadline, the film studio New Line has greenlit a new Mortal Kombat movie, with Simon McQuoid returning as the movie's director. gasd As Deadline points out, the latest Mortal Kombat movie was a huge success, big enough to grant another shot at it. Good for them! Here's what the reporters heard from their inside sources about the upcoming sequel:
After the most recent Mortal Kombat pic overachieved at box office, New Line is ready to get back in to the arena on a sequel. Sources tell Deadline that Simon McQuoid is set to return as director for the follow-up to the 2021 action-adventure hit.
More info hasn't been revealed yet, so we don't know anything about a potential release date or plot details yet. Considering, that the movie is just now being greenlit, we assume that it will come out in 2024 at the earlierst. And all the surviving characters (whomst've I shall not spoil) from the first movie will probably make a return.
