Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will release in less than 2 months, and everyone is incredibly hyped about it. It even received a price for the most anticipated game of the year at the Famitsu Game Awards. To this day, Nintendo has been quite secretive when it came to the Breath of the Wild predecessor, especially with its gameplay.

Since it is a direct sequel to BOTW, we didn't expect anything majorly different in terms of the gameplay, because Breath of the Wild already did a great job at that. Why change something that doesn't need changing.

But now, the game's producer has teased about new gameplay abilities, that could give players more control over the world than ever.

Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Gameplay Can Change The Game World

At the Famitsu Game Awards, Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom won "Most Anticipated Game" and when producer Eiji Aonuma went to accept the award, he teased some interesting details about new gameplay mechanics in Tears of the Kingdom.

“In the sequel, Tears of the Kingdom, furthermore, the player’s free imagination will be filled with new gameplay that will bring about changes to the game world.”

It seems like Aonuma is hinting at new game mechanics that allow Link to impact the surrounding terrain. Obviously, Zelda Tears of the Kingdom is not going to be the next Minecraft or Animal Crossing, but a lighter version of terraforming is in fact quite imaginable for Zelda games like this one.

We imagine that this new ability could take place underground, where Link might have to create pathways through caves. This mechanic could look similar to the game Deep Rock Galactic, where the players have full access to every part of the map and mine their way through a 100% destructible environment.

Full access to the entire map was one of Zelda: Breath of the Wild's most special features. Since Tears of the Kingdom will be no different in that aspect, we can imagine that this mechanic will fit well into the game. Especially as we have seen several clips from caves in TOTK trailers. Strange, huh?
