7. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
Nice try, Kojima. The first mission we played as Snake, but then we got introduced to the protagonist of the game: Raiden. A skinny emo boy who thinks that he is the greatest, while even the player knows he is just a Snake-stan. The story is okay and at the end, we got a pretty gooda twist, but the change from Solid Snake to Raiden just hurts. | © Konami
6. Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops
The first PSP game had a strong story that followed the events of Metal Gear Solid 3. But the gameplay didn't translate that well to handheld; with no second stick meant we had to change view via D-pad. | © Konami
5. Metal Gear Solid: Peacewalker
The second and final PSP game of this franchise feels more improved. The Recruit system was fun, and the story about Naked Snake (now Big Boss) in Costa Rica had some pretty nice twists. If you want to play one of the PSP games, I would suggest this one. | © Konami
4. Metal Gear Solid V
One of the best stealth games of all time but one of the worst Metal Gear Solid Games. Why this game was divided in two games is still a mystery? But the stealth mechanics were great, and there was a great variety of gadgets and weapons. | © Konami
3. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
Solid Snake is old ("how old?"), so old that his name is now Old Snake. This game is 50% cutscenes and 50% gameplay, especially the end, which reminds us of the ending from Lord of the Rings where everybody has to say something. That said, the presentation and gameplay is still one of a kind in the history of video games. But watch out, this game is not for newbies; the story is all about connecting the dots between all the other games. | © Konami
2. Metal Gear Solid
This game is still one of my all-time favorites, especially for its amazing presentation. The base Shadow Moses had such a dark, mysterious vibe, and bosses like Sniper Wolf and Psycho Mantis are iconic. Sure, the gameplay might not have aged as well as some other games, but the mechanics (like taking drugs to snipe better or the enemies being able to see your footprints and follow them) are just part of what make Metal Gear Solid so special to us fans. | © Konami
1. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
The best Metal Gear Solid has everything the franchise is known for: unique bosses, cinematic storytelling, and fun gameplay mechanics.
Set during the Cold War, Naked Snake is tasked with destroying a nuclear weapon and killing his former mentor, THE BOSS. The battle against THE BOSS is probably the most dramatic boss fight and twist in the entire story of the game. Please, Konami, don't screw up the remake. | © Konami
