Changes have been made to Marvel's Wolverine notorious "fart gas".
Marvel's Wolverine has received an update that makes one of its more interesting gameplay features considerably less distracting. We're talking, of course, about what players have infamously dubbed "fart gas".
This gas everybody is talking about is officially known as Scent Trails, and it plays into one of Wolverine's most recognizable abilities. Thanks to his enhanced sense of smell, Logan can pick up scents and use them to investigate locations and find objects in the game.
The problem was the way these trails were represented visually. The smoke-like blue line was meant to help players understand exactly what Wolverine was detecting. However, some players thought it looked less like a powerful mutant's enhanced senses and more like someone had unleashed a giant cloud of gas.
The "Fart Gas" Problem Has Blown Over
In response to community feedback, Insomniac Games has reduced the opacity of both the Scent Trails and Audio Sense indicators, meaning the effects are now less prominent while exploring. They should still be easy enough to notice when players need them, but they won't dominate the screen quite as much as before.
The developers acknowledged the comments online and updated the appearance of Scent Trails in the game after a recent hotfix, stating, "This hotfix adjusts the presentation of the Scent Trails and Audio Sense indicators, including reduced opacity to make these visuals less intense."
Here is a side-by-side comparison so you can see how Wolverine's blue "fart gas" was toned down after the hotfix.

Some players believe the blue Scent Trails have become worse after the hotfix. They believe a more rational solution to this issue is the implementation of a toggle button, which would allow players to activate and deactivate Scent Trails.
Insomniac Will Deploy More Changes
Insomniac has confirmed that they are "exploring toggleable options for a future update." They will also continue to evaluate more ways to improve Senses in Marvel's Wolverine.

The studio has remained steadfast in its efforts to improve the action-adventure title. Following the game's official release on September 15, they stated that they are "actively engaged with the player community and gathering feedback to further refine the player experience."
To date, Insomniac has resolved several issues affecting the game, including common crashes, voiceover problems, and complications that can arise when certain characters interact with the environment.
