12. Ranger
The Ranger, for most people, is underwhelming in Baldur's Gate 3 (as it is in 5e). The Ranger's proficiency with finesse weapons is definitely a plus, but his long range combat options just don't really stand out. But I will say that having an Animal Companion that grows with you throughout your run is still pretty cool.
11. Druid
The Druid is an awesome class in concept, but compared to the tabletop version, the BG3 version is much weaker. Largely because the Wild Shapes are so limited. I would have loved the druid to be stronger for role-playing purposes, because I just love the vibe and theme of Druids, but it's hard to recommend from a raw ability standpoint.
10. Rogue
The Rogue is actually my personal favorite class, and it's quite sad that it isn't as strong as I hoped. The sneak attack mechanic is definitely a lot of fun, especially if you're running an assassin build, but the power of this falls off over the course of the game. Out of combat, you get a lot of utility because of the bonuses for breaking locks and disarming traps, but I can't rank this class higher.
9. Monk
The Monk has some very cheesy builds and can definitely dish out a ton of damage, but overall they are a bit too unflexible. If you have a maxed out Monk, you can do a lot of damage, but since you're mostly unarmed, you won't be as flexible in your options as other classes.
8. Barbarian
The Barbarian is a very fun class! You get a lot of extra actions, you can intimidate people and your main focus during your playthrough will be, how you can smash people's brains in the best. The damage sadly falls off a bit in the later parts of the game, which is why the Barbarian is ranked this low.
7. Cleric
The Cleric is an incredibly versatile class. You have the healing aspect, which is nice, but you also have a wide array of spells you can use, granting a huge amount of utility in your party. The subclasses you can choose, add a wide variety of different play styles you can run. It is a good all-rounder class that is kind of good at everything, but not the best at anything.
6. Bard
The Bard is the real all-rounder class of Baldur's Gate 3. You can learn any ability, go for a melee build or a full caster. Also, you are a charisma monster, which makes the Bard the best option for talking to NPC's. And the best part? You can perform in the streets to make money and distract people. A great class.
5. Wizard
The Wizard can basically learn every spell in the game. They are definitely one of the hardest classes to master, just because of the variety of spells you have at your disposal. They can deal a lot of damage, provide a lot of utility, and they are a huge asset to any party.
4. Fighter
The Fighter is the best beginner class in Baldur's Gate 3. You get a lot of actions per turn, which means that you never feel like you can't do things, and you have great damage. Most people agree that the only downside to this class is that they can be a bit boring.
3. Sorcerer
The Sorcerer doesn't get as many spells as the wizard, but they get Metamagic. With Metamagic you can increase your magic's power or double-cast. The sorcerer is the best caster build in terms of fighting ability, since they can do an insane amount of damage to large groups of enemies in just one turn.
2. Warlock
The Warlock is crazy strong. You have your Warlock spell slots, which always allow you to cast spells at their maximum available level. You have Eldritch Blast as a fricking cantrip, so it doesn't cost anything and deals an unholy amount of damage, and knocks enemies away. In my opinion, the Warlock is the coolest and strongest caster class. But there isn't a ton of variety here.
1. Paladin
The Paladin is the strongest class in Baldur's Gate 3, because of one little ability – Divine Smite. In terms of single target damage, you just can't beat it. And Divine Smite deals bonus damage against undead or fiend enemies, which Baldur's Gate 3 is filled to the brim with. So if you want to smash through a run in record time, try out the Paladin.
