These Games have been delayed because of Silksong
Silksong is finally just around the corner! The surprise announcement of its September 4 release date caught not only players off guard, but developers as well. Many studios suddenly found themselves reshuffling schedules – after all, who wants to go head-to-head with the GTA VI in the indie game space?

Aeterna Lucis (2026)
This Metroidvania was originally scheduled for release on September 18 and has now been postponed until 2026. It comes as no surprise that games in the same genre are the first to make way. Developer Aeternum Games Studios released a statement in which they explain, among other things, that it would not be fair to their own team to take the risk. In the worst case, the game would sink alongside Silksong and all their efforts would be in vain. | © Aeternum Game Studios

Demonschool
Necrosoft was ready to launch Demonschool on September 3, but then publisher Ysbryd Games pulled the plug. The turn-based tactical RPG doesn't really have anything in common with Silksong. Among other things, Necrosoft explained that many people panic when a game of this magnitude is announced only two weeks in advance. Apparently, the publisher also panicked and postponed the game until November 19. At least Necrosoft is being paid for the delay. | © Ysbryd Games

Little Witch in the Woods
This cute pixel-art game about a witch apprentice is already available to play in its early access version. Years later, developer Sunny Side Up was finally ready to release the full version of Little Witch in the Woods on September 4. However, fans will have to wait a little longer, as the release has been pushed back by just 11 days. | © Sunny Side Up

CloverPit
CloverPit joins the ranks of horror roguelike games that build on a simple concept. In this case, the familiar slot machine, the one-armed bandit, is used and playfully elevated to a level reminiscent of a mixture of Balatro and Buckshot Roulette. The developer team Panik Arcade said “We like to gamble, but this is too risky lol,” and postponed the game from September 3 to September 26. | © Future Friend Games

Megabonk
This game from solo developer vedinad is based on a hype from recent years. We're talking about clones of Vampire: Survivor. The concept of increasingly stronger and more numerous waves of enemies has captivated many. However, Megabonk is played from a much closer third-person perspective and does away with the pixelated graphics. Since Silksong is now being released on the day Megabonk was supposed to come out, the developer wants to build in a two-week buffer to be on the safe side and is releasing the game on September 18. | © vedinad

Baby Steps
One would think that Bennet Foddy's new game is big enough that Silksong doesn't need to be avoided. The developer of Getting Over It has teamed up with Gabe Cuzzillo and Maxi Boch to once again create a game in which the controls are the biggest enemy. This is because your character has baby legs, which naturally makes walking difficult. However, even this game, which has a well-known name behind it, has been postponed from September 8 to September 23. | © Devolver Digital

Faeland
Faeland is also a Metroidvania. But unlike Silksong, it doesn't represent an innovation in the genre, but rather a celebration of the old 8-bit classics. Fans are certain: anyone who likes Zelda, Metroidvanias, and beautiful pixel graphics shouldn't miss this game. Early Access is already available, and developer Talegames had originally planned to release the full version on September 9. Now that Silksong looks set to dominate the Metroidvania market for quite some time, the release has been postponed indefinitely. | © Talegames
