15 Video Games That Were Criticized for Being Too Easy

1-15

Too easy to matter.

Cropped The Order 1886

15. The Order: 1886 (2015)

Five hours. That's roughly how long it took most players to see everything The Order: 1886 had to offer, credits included. The game leaned on cover shooting sequences so scripted that missing a beat barely mattered, since enemies practically waited their turn to get shot. A gorgeous Victorian London ended up wrapped around a campaign with nothing underneath it. | © Sony Interactive Entertainment
Final Fantasy Mystic Quest

14. Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest (1992)

Nobody at Square expected Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest to get torn apart for being too forgiving, but that was the entire design brief. It was built as an entry point for American players supposedly scared off by traditional RPG difficulty, so encounters got thinned out and puzzles got softened until almost nothing stood in the way. Death barely functioned as a threat when items and revives showed up constantly. Longtime fans of the series felt talked down to instead of welcomed in. | © Square Enix

Sonic Forces

13. Sonic Forces (2017)

A game about outrunning your own history ended up tripping over easy mode instead. Sonic Forces handed players a boost button that plowed through obstacles, an auto-lock targeting system, and levels so short some clocked in under two minutes. Speed replaced any actual challenge, turning stages into a formality between cutscenes. The custom avatar feature got more attention than anything you were asked to survive. | © Sega
Kirbys Epic Yarn

12. Kirby's Epic Yarn (2010)

Kirby can't take damage in Kirby's Epic Yarn. He gets unraveled, loses a few beads, and keeps right on floating through stages built entirely around cute over consequence. That single design choice stripped away the tension the character usually creates by inhaling threats and spitting them back out. What's left is a yarn-textured playground where losing simply isn't part of the deal. | © Nintendo
Yoshis Crafted World 2019

11. Yoshi's Crafted World (2019)

Egg-throwing combat, flutter jumps, and a Yoshi who can't actually die on the main path. That combination is exactly why Yoshi's Crafted World drew complaints from players expecting more resistance out of a platformer. Falling off the stage just means floating back up in a bubble, no penalty attached. Even the reverse side stages, meant to add difficulty, mostly just add scenery to look at. | © Nintendo
Prince of persia

10. Prince of Persia (2008)

Falling off a ledge in Prince of Persia (2008) barely registers as a mistake. Elika swoops in and catches you every single time, so death simply isn't on the table. Ubisoft built an entire acrobatic playground around a safety net so generous that momentum, not danger, became the only real challenge. Platforming without the fear of falling turned out to be a much smaller thrill than anyone expected. | © Ubisoft
Fable II

9. Fable II (2008)

Albion never really fights back in Fable II. Combat resolves itself through auto-aim magic, easy melee chains, and a dog that mostly just points you toward treasure. Peter Molyneux talked up moral consequence and a living world, but the actual survival part barely required attention. The kingdom feels detailed right up until you realize nothing in it can seriously threaten you. | © Microsoft Game Studios
Diablo III

8. Diablo III (2012)

Loot used to mean something before Diablo III smoothed out the risk entirely. Normal and Nightmare difficulty let players plow through hordes without ever adjusting their build or their attention span. Blizzard's own itemization changes later admitted the early game handed out too much, too easily. A franchise built on desperate scavenging shouldn't feel this relaxed. | © Blizzard Entertainment
Pokémon X Y

7. Pokémon X & Y (2013)

Trainers barely had to think during battles in Pokémon X & Y. The EXP Share update meant an entire party leveled up just from one Pokémon fighting, turning the grind into a formality. Gym leaders and rivals rarely posed a real threat once teams were overleveled by default. Game Freak made the on-ramp so smooth that the climb basically disappeared. | © Nintendo
Star Wars The Force Unleashed II

6. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II (2010)

Starkiller's second outing leans hard on spectacle, and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II pays for it in tension. Force powers overwhelm most enemies before they get a chance to react, and checkpoints are forgiving enough to erase any real stakes. A game about channeling terrifying power ends up letting you mash through it without much resistance. The lightsaber does more work than the player does. | © LucasArts
Cropped The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess

5. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (2006)

Hyrule in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess gives Link a wolf form, a full spirit realm, and hearts scattered everywhere he looks. Health drops rarely matter because the next refill is usually a few steps away. Boss fights lean on obvious patterns instead of real pressure, and the Master Sword upgrade barely changes how careful you need to be. A game this long shouldn't feel this forgiving from start to finish. | © Nintendo
Kingdom Hearts III

4. Kingdom Hearts III (2019)

Sora spends most of Kingdom Hearts III juggling Disney worlds that rarely ask him to struggle. Attractions turn combat into flashy carnival rides that clear entire rooms with one button. Keyblade transformations pile on damage so fast that enemy patterns stop mattering. Even the finale, stacked with over a decade of buildup, folds faster than the story around it deserves. | © Square Enix
Hogwarts Legacy

3. Hogwarts Legacy (2023)

Wands, brooms, and a sprawling castle set the stage for Hogwarts Legacy, but the danger never matches the scenery. Combat spells overlap so much that mashing a couple of favorites gets you through most encounters. Side quests dish out gear upgrades so generously that struggling students turn into overpowered wizards within hours. Warner Bros. built a school full of secrets and forgot to make any of them dangerous. | © Warner Bros. Games
The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim

2. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (2011)

Dragons started dropping out of the sky in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and somehow that stopped feeling like news. Leveling systems let players stack enchantments and potions until even the strongest foes crumble in seconds. Stealth archers became a running joke because one perked-out bow trivialized entire dungeons. Bethesda built an enormous world, then let players break it wide open with barely any effort. | © Bethesda Softworks
Super Mario Odyssey

1. Super Mario Odyssey (2017)

Cappy turns Mario into a walking cheat code in Super Mario Odyssey. Possessing enemies removes most of the platforming risk that used to define the series. Falling off a ledge barely costs anything when coins and extra moons sit around every corner. A game built around wild transformation ended up trading challenge for spectacle. | © Nintendo
