No one plays LoL for the lore - but it would be nice to have a more engaging backstory to these five champions

Quinn 0 — 5. Quinn

**Quinn & Valor:** Demacia’s skirmisher tag-team’s lore is a bit sparse. While other Demacian champions have had their background updated to fit the newer events, Quinn is just … there. Not that there is anything wrong with being a wandering ranger, but it would be good to have something that shows us what Quinnn has been up to. Credit: Riot Games

Corki 0 — 4. Corki

**Corki:** This yordle aviator’s lore is all about being a fighter pilot and commander of a squadron, but there is very little mention of any place in the lore - even piltover - having much in the way of planes, much less dogfighting battles. Corki feels like a relic of earlier “anything goes” lore, perhaps it fits his concept of an old veteran but still not quite there. Credit: Riot Games

Fizz 1 — 3. Fizz

**Fizz:** Bilgewater is a pretty eventful place, but Fizz, appears not to have noticed. The playful trickster’s lore ties him to the region, but he does not seem to care for anything that happens there. You’d think at least the occasional Harrowing would have caught his attention. Alistar 4 — 2. Alistar

**Alistar**: The minotaur’s story is more than a bit cliche. There is nothing wrong with seeking revenge - though recently, Noxus’ lore has been moving away from standard tyrannical villainy and more into ruthless “strength above all” ground. Alistar as a slave gladiator is a bit of an odd duck - not least because the champion’s toolkit does not exactly scream “arena duelist.”Credit: Riot Games

Rammus 1 — 1. Rammus

**Rammus:** This champion is a bit of an antique in League of Legends. His background, like his kit, have received minor touch-ups, but overall, it is not particularly satisfying. Basically, no one knows much about him, he’s tied to Shurima and does what he pleases. That’s … sort of lame. Riot, please give him a background that is not just “Okay.” Credit: Riot Games

League of Legends has seen plenty of visual and gameplay updates over its 12-year history. While there is a long-running meme that no one plays League for the lore, Arcane showed us just how engrossing it is when it’s done well. There are now some 140 champions with complex and interconnected lore. Some have a great niche in the world and a unique place and appeal. Others... not so much.

Whether it no longer fits newer lore or is just not particularly impressive, here is our top five list of which champions’ backstories Riot should look into.
