These five champions were definitely too strong!
5. Old Evelynn
A few years ago, Riot has reworked the invisibility mechanic which was only used sparsely. Back in the old days, Evelynn could stay invisible forever as long as she didn't use an ability, no matter how close she was to you.
Combine this with the old Sunfire Cape which wasn't a unique ability and you got an invisible mosquito that slowly kills you by simply standing next to you. Oh and she had her invisibility starting from Level 1… (Image credit: Riot Games)
4. Release Xin Zhao
When Xin came out, he was completely broken. Sorry, we meant COMPLETLY broken. Just look at the nerfs he got in the next patch – less attack speed, less attack speed per level, Q knock up time reduced, W duration reduced, E slow, slow duration and area of effect size reduced.

3. Old Kassadin
This guy used to be an absolute monster with little to no counterplay. Why? Well, that's because his Q used to be a point-and-click silence. This meant it was impossible to trade back when he ulted into range to poke you with Q and E.
Being slowed and silenced freaking sucks. Back then, his ult also increased its mana cost additively and had 700 range instead of the 550 it has nowadays. (Image credit: Riot Games)
2. Release LeBlanc
Tons of damage! What else is there to say about this hot mess of a champion? You know a champion is broken when it gets hotfixed a few hours after its release.

1. Beta Twisted Fate
Honestly, we don't think this was a close one. TF's gold card is already his strongest pick. Well, it used to be an AOE stun with upside. Over the years, we learned how important mobility, map control and tempo are. In some matches, we get to see up to 5 or six teleports. Thus, Twisted Fate's ult has kept him relevant in pro play.
In beta, his ult was global, oh, and did we mention it was his E and had a way lower cooldown? Thank god Riot isn't the same inexperienced indie company it used to be. With 200 years of collective game design experience, it is unlikely we will ever see broken champions released again. (Image credit: Riot Games)
