We're just not quite sure yet when and or how he did spoilt it...
British actor Tom Holland, most famously known for his starring role as Spider-Man in what are often perceived to be the best movies along Marvel's superhero lineup, has built somewhat of a reputation in recent years for "accidentally" revealing details about upcoming projects he is involved in.
Spoilers like these are even the reason fans first knew about a fourth MCU Spider-Man movie being in production, with Holland teasing early details in interviews. Now, in a recent interview, industry insider Alex Perez has revealed that thanks to Holland, we may already know who its main villain is going to be.
Spoilers? Where?
The reveal was part of an interview conducted via independent pop culture magazine "The Cosmic Circus", which regularly hosts Q&A sessions with known figures of the respective industries. Paying members of their Discord or Patreon can ask the guests various questions. In their most recent session with Alex Perez in September 2025, the following exchange took place:
Commentator: "Could you please give us a clue who is going to be the main villain of Spider-Man: Brand New Day? Recent discoveries have made it seem that Alistair Smythe / The Spider-Slayer could be the big villain, based on the mood board leaks from Pinterest."
Alex Perez: "It’s simpler, meaner, badder, and even Tom Holland technically spoiled it in an interview."
He did not elaborate on which interview he was talking about. Despite Holland initially stating that he did not intend to continue performing as Marvel's most popular superhero after his third starring role in Spider-Man: Far From Home in 2021, later reports confirmed his return in the upcoming fourth movie Spider Man: Brand New Day, though to our knowledge, Sony and Disney have so far kept him on a close leash to ensure no accidental spoilers on his part.
A Second Leak?
However, on September 23, 2025 (around the same time as Perez' interview on The Cosmic Circus), entertainment magazine Deadline claimed to have received leaks of Marvin Jones III being cast to play Spider-Man villain Tombstone in the upcoming movie, after the actor had previously provided a voiceline for a small cameo of the character in the animated movie Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018).
Tombstone was originally a childhood friend of the comic protagonist and later became a notorious gangster. He fits Perez' description of "simpler, meaner, badder", considering his comic history as a brutal enforcer with enhanced strength, chalk-white skin, and a reputation for ruthless pragmatism, often portrayed as less of a flashy supervillain and more of a grounded, street-level menace whose sheer intimidation makes him one of the grittier Spider-Man antagonists.
Considering that Brand New Day is speculated to take inspiration from the similarly-titled 2008 comic storyline where Spider-Man had to rebuild his life after parts of the timeline were erased, making Tombstone an important part of the story would certainly seem sensible, with the writers potentially being able to show his evolution from childhood friend to near-invincible mutant.
But what do you think? Was Tom Holland's alleged "spoiler" truly accidental or part of a larger marketing strategy? And do you think Tombstone could truly be the villain referenced by Perez? Let us know in the comments below!
