Gal Gadot has spoken out about her involvement in the controversial AI film Bitcoin.
Gal Gadot has defended her decision to star in Bitcoin, an upcoming movie that has attracted attention for its use of artificial intelligence in its production.
Bitcoin was filmed largely on a bare soundstage, with AI being used to create the movie's sets and lighting.
Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast with Josh Horowitz, Gadot compared the filming experience to theater, and described it as a stripped-down form of filmmaking.
It felt like a pure art form of creating a movie. [...] Here, we would film nonstop because we didn't have to wait for lighting.
The AI Train Has "Left the Station"
Gadot acknowledged concerns about AI but argued that actors and filmmakers cannot simply ignore the technology.
The actress explained that she wants to understand AI and learn how it can be used while protecting the aspects of filmmaking she considers important.
I am afraid, but I am playing with it and learning it and trying to educate myself. [...] The train has left the station. You're going to work with it or be out of the game completely. I am trying to make the best of it and protect what I can protect.
She added that she believes the industry has already reached a point where refusing to engage with AI could have serious consequences.
Gal Gadot Made Sure AI Wouldn't Change Her Performance
Although Gadot accepted the use of AI for certain elements of Bitcoin, she was adamant that the technology would not be used to manipulate her acting performance.
The actress revealed that her lawyers spent six months negotiating her contract to address every possible scenario involving AI.
This was the longest contract I have ever worked on. [...] I did not want AI to have anything to do with my performance. We had to protect that, to such an extent that SAG called my lawyers to ask for pointers to update the SAG contract to protect other actors. As far as the performances, it's all me.
Gadot's comments come at a time when Hollywood continues to wrestle with how AI should be used in film and television.
Directed by Doug Liman, Bitcoin stars Gadot alongside Casey Affleck, Pete Davidson, and Isla Fisher. The film began production at the end of February 2026.
