The open beta of Battlefield 6 was already a huge success for the franchise. Even in the early access phase, it impressed with 300,000 concurrent players on Steam. During the open beta, which was accessible to everyone, this number rose to a peak of 517,853 concurrent players.

When the game finally launched on October 10, 2025, record-breaking numbers were already emerging shortly after.

A Record Peak For EA

Within the first hour after the Battlefield 6 release, the number of concurrent players on Steam rose to over 700,000 and eventually reached the current all-time peak of 747,400. This makes the release EA's most successful shooter release of all time.

The Twitch numbers looked impressive too: around 550,000 people watched the gameplay on their favorite streamers' channels.

The shooter is currently ranked fourth among the most played games on Steam and first among Steam's top sellers. Three days after its release, Battlefield 6 still has a 24-hour peak of 656,814 concurrent players, putting it just behind PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS. Counter Strike 2 and Dota 2 continue to occupy the top two spots (as of October 13, 2025).

Positive Reviews, Despite Clear Points Of Criticism

A look at the Battlefield 6 player reviews on Steam immediately reveals its massive success. Of the 62,806 player reviews currently available, a full 76% are positive.

In comparison, the previous title, Battlefield 2042, has only 46% positive reviews out of a total of 320,043 reviews.

Reading through the reviews, it becomes clear how well Battlefield 6 is being received by the community.

"The best Battlefield in years.100% worth it."
"It's finally a real Battlefield again and it's awesome."
"I love the gunplay, the movement, the graphics – the battlefield feeling comes across perfectly, especially with the incredibly good sound design."

Despite the overwhelmingly positive statistics and reviews, there are a few points of criticism that players seem to agree on. Most of these relate to the maps being too small and the gameplay being a little too fast and rushed.

"The maps are far, far, far too small."
"There is an urgent need for much larger maps – with water, boats, everything."
"Great shooter. Poor to non-existent Battlefield. Now just a better CoD [Call of Duty]. Tactics are no longer present."

However, the Battlefield 6 release was a complete success overall and gave most long-time fans a perfect gaming weekend. We are excited to see how the statistics develop and whether the game can surpass its all-time peak again.

And hey, with a game that good, we can all stomach a basically doomed-to-fail Breakthrough round on Mirak Valley. Attackers just can't win, man.
