A certain Baldur's Gate 3 player completed the entirety of the game's first act without resting once, and the reason might surprise you.

If you've played Baldur's Gate 3, you might have missed a few central game mechanics that are essential to progress through the game.

If your characters are worn down, and you need to replenish their HP and spell slots, you have to use camping equipment for a long rest.

One particular player didn't quite get the memo, though.

Act 1 Insomnia

In this thread, a Reddit user explains how he discovered that his brother accidentally completed Act 1 without using short or long rests.

Apparently, his brother was teleported to camp when he tried to access the mountain pass, and was surprised about this new locationhe had never been to.

He explains:

This mf somehow survived whole ass act 1 by, and I'm not joking, "staying close and throwing health potion on all of us", "using scrolls with gale" and the most absurd thing "looking for ingredients and crafting health potions".

So his brother actually learned the alchemy mechanics before the rest mechanics, which got him through Act 1.

Another user commented:

I wonder how many times they had to listen to the different characters saying “sure could use a nap”

This is simply hilarious, but it also goes to show that great games enable the player to find their own solutions to their problems. Particularly, a game based on D&D should provide many ways to complete it, and Baldur's Gate 3 does not disappoint in that regard.

Sadly, he will probably want to restart his run, because he also missed all the character and romance progression without visiting the campsite.

Did you guys have an unusual way of beating Baldur's Gate 3?
