Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 sets an all time record in The Game Awards history, the nominees have been revealed.
The Game Awards may be the most anticipated event in the gaming community, and it is almost there. On December 11th the doors of the Peacock stadium in Los Angeles will open. The full list of nominees has been released and spread a lot of discussion online. This year is packed with great titles like Hades 2, Hollow Knight: Silksong, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 and many more. Yet the spotlight is on Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
Clair Obscur With An All Time Record For Most Nominations
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 already had high expectations for The Game Awards to begin with. Now they even surpassed those with a total of 12 nominations – which is the highest number of nominations that has ever been received.
Just to compare: The last game to come remotely close to it was God of War Ragnarök in 2022 with 10 total nominations. This year Death Stranding 2: On the beach follows with 7 nominations.
The nomination for the category: Best Debut Indie Game, shows how much of a success for Sandfall Interactive this is. The team working on Clair Obscur consisted of 30 employees and was a complete underdog before its release.
Another fun fact, especially because the game also got nominated for: Best Score and Music – the composer of the soundtrack Lorien Testard was found over the platform soundcloud.
Tough Competition With A Bombshell Lineup
Even though Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 definitely deserves the praise it gets from the community, there is still tough competition for Game of the Year.
A victory from Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is highly requested by the fans, yet there are absolute top notch games in line this year. Hades 2 was a worthy successor to the prequel, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 has been celebrated by the fans. The winning race will probably be exciting and surprising at the same time.
Time And Date For The Game Awards 2025
The stadium in L.A will open at 7:30 PST and the event will be streamed on all platforms. You can vote until the 10th of December 6 pm PT for your favorite nominees over the official website. Keep in mind that there is usually a 30-minute long preshow, which is worth watching. Usually this is the time where they showcase some exciting releases.
