Microsoft’s Fable reboot has been pushed to 2026, and rumors suggest the delay could be tied to a simultaneous PlayStation 5 release.

Microsoft’s highly anticipated reboot of Fable has been pushed back to 2026, and speculation is swirling that a PlayStation 5 release could be the reason behind the delay. Industry insider NateTheHate, known for his reliable leaks, suggests that Microsoft may be planning a simultaneous launch across Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PS5.
PS5 Release Could Be A Factor In The Delay
In a discussion on ResetEra, NateTheHate theorized that the delay gives developers extra time to polish while also ensuring a day-one launch on PS5. He pointed out that the PlayStation version had always been planned for 2026, meaning the new release date could be a strategic move to launch on all platforms simultaneously.
"Fable coming to PS5 in the year after it launched on Xbox/PC is not speculation. That timeline was based on the original 2025 release. With Fable now delayed to 2026, it stands to reason that a simultaneous launch across all platforms is possible."
This would align with Microsoft’s recent push towards multiplatform releases, as seen with Forza Horizon 5 and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, both of which are heading to PlayStation.
However, those ports followed a timed-exclusivity model, giving Xbox players early access. If Fable does indeed launch on PS5 the same day as Xbox and PC, it would mark a significant shift in strategy.
