New leaks from Far Cry 7 are causing both discussion and confusion in the community.
Numerous rumors are already circulating about the upcoming shooter Far Cry 7, even though Ubisoft has not yet officially announced the title.
A leak has now revealed the first images, which are presumably concept drawings or early screenshots of locations from the next installment, and has also disclosed further information.
According to this, Far Cry 7 could be split into two separate games: the single-player campaign Blackbird and the extraction shooter Maverick.
However, the leaks have caused considerable confusion within the community.
Leaked Material
The images, along with additional information, are said to have been obtained by data miners from the game files of Ubisoft's shooter XDefiant. The usually well-informed website Insider Gaming considers the leak to be realistic and claims to have additional material that matches the published screenshots exactly.
The screenshots shown are from an extraction map called "Paradise Park," where wild animals also attack the player. However, a different map is planned for story mode. The main character is described as a white, bearded man in his 30s.
The release is reportedly scheduled to take place within the next two years. The original post with the screenshots by AgaiinTx on X has since been deleted.
Confusion About The Setting: Alaska or Jungle?
A post by GameGPU on X sparked further discussion, mentioning a possible Alaska setting, which does not match the leaked screenshots at all.

Far Cry 7 details have reportedly leaked via game files from XDefiant. Fans datamined images showing what appear to be locations from the next Far Cry, strongly suggesting an Alaskan setting, which lines up with previous rumors.

Many fans reacted with confusion.
„Ah yes, love this Alaska.“
„You tell me how these look like they are in an Alaskan setting?“
Insider Gaming explains that the leaked images featuring dense jungle, bridges, and large billboards are from the multiplayer mode of Project Talisker. This was the original development name for Far Cry 7, but it was later abandoned and replaced by Blackbird and Maverick.
It is possible that the screenshots only show the Extraction mode Maverick and that the single-player campaign Blackbird will be played on a different map, possibly Alaska.
Rumors Should Be Treated With Caution
Speculation about Far Cry 7 should still be viewed with caution. It remains unclear whether the game will actually be split into two parts and whether it will include an extraction mode. Some fans are less than enthusiastic about the latter:
„Please no, not Battle Royale or extraction shooter.“
One thing is certain, however: official news and the game itself will probably be a long time coming.
