CD Projekt Red is currently developing The Witcher 4, but that's not all fans have to look forward to. In addition to the highly anticipated sequel, a remake of the first game is in the works, as well as a spin-off project, developed by The Molasses Flood.

The Witcher Will Get A Multiplayer Spin-Off

The Molasses Flood's upcoming project represents a departure from the traditional single-player format of The Witcher series by introducing multiplayer elements. While specifics are limited, a recent job listing found by Tech4Gamers for a Senior Combat Designer suggests a class-based approach to gameplay. This suggests that players will encounter different character roles with unique combat styles, using techniques such as behavior trees, animation graphics, and blueprints.

The Senior Combat Designer will oversee critical aspects such as animation timing, balance tweaks, and i-frame mechanics, reporting directly to the Lead Gameplay Designer.

The Witcher Multiplayer: Class Based Gameplay

Of particular interest is the emphasis on "character types," hinting at a structured class system similar to other multiplayer games. This would indicate that players will be able to choose between different combat specializations, such as melee experts, spellcasters, and potentially more, offering diverse gameplay options within The Witcher universe. The choice of Unreal Engine for development aligns The Molasses Flood's project with CDPR's strategy, mirroring the technology used for The Witcher 4 and its sequel, Cyberpunk 2077. While details of The Molasses Flood's game remain under wraps, the promise of class-based combat roles suggests an innovative addition to the gaming landscape of The Witcher universe.
