Imagine you are playing a high-stakes extraction shooter and your opponent turns out to be a friend from high school you have not seen in fifteen years.
Australian streamer Crayator was playing a round of Marathon when another player recognized him. It turned out they had been friends in high school and had not seen each other for 15 years.
From Enemy To Goosebumps: Crayator Reunites With Old Friend Mid-Game
Crayator is an Australian FPS streamer known for his positive and high-energy streams. As an FPS streamer, he naturally could not resist jumping into Bungie’s new extraction shooter Marathon.
And in extraction shooters, things can get stressful quickly. There is constant danger of getting taken out from any direction, whether it is AI that is definitely not to be underestimated or other players who are after your loot.
With that in mind, Crayator was cautious when he encountered what seemed to be a random player. As he tried to confirm whether the opponent was still nearby, the other player suddenly recognized his voice and asked:
“Nathan?”
Crayator initially assumed it was just a viewer addressing him by his real name and responded jokingly:
"Don't ever call me Nathan in your life."
He laughed at first, but the smile quickly faded when he heard:
"It's James."
He asked, clearly in disbelief:
"Do you mean James from high school?"
When James confirmed it, Crayator was visibly hyped. He reacted to the situation by saying:
“Bro i have goosebumps.”
And James simply replied:
“Me too.”
They exchanged names so they could add each other, but the wholesome interaction did not end there. A couple of days later, Crayator streamed Marathon while playing with James again. The next day, they were playing Arc Raiders together.
What started as a happy reunion quickly turned into something even more special. Still, do not expect that kind of wholesome moment in your own extraction shooter matches, at least not in my experience.
