"AI Is Harder Than Real Players": Ninja Rage Quits Marathon As Streamers Push Back On Hate

People love to hate on Marathon, but what about the streamers?

Marathon might just be Bungie's last chance to land a hit. Otherwise the studio might be done. And the internet has already been hating on the game since the alpha test when people discovered that the art style of the game was stolen. By now Bungie has compensated the artist, but the negative press remains. Even so, many of the biggest FPS streamers still gave the game a shot.

Even Ninja And Shroud Think Marathon's NPCs Are Brutal

A clip of Ninja went viral showing him playing a run in Marathon, killing an enemy player and then getting killed by a hostile NPC. He reacted with a rage quit and said:

"AI is harder than real players. I can't stand this game."

So if you take Ninja's opinion on Marathon, it might not be very flattering. But he was not the only one who was caught off guard by the difficulty of the NPCs. Even the human aimbot himself, Shroud, mentioned that the enemies can be pretty challenging:

"I can't believe they made the game this hard. I can't. Like you play Arc and it's like you're playing Hello Kitty Adventures. They made it so hard."

Even though the AI seems pretty challenging in Marathon, someone please remind Shroud of this take the next time he is face to face with a Rocketeer.

“Let Them Cook”: Streamers Push Back On Marathon Hate

However, some streamers were bombarded with so much hate for wanting to try out Marathon that they eventually had to address it. TimTheTatman, for example, played the game and was constantly harassed about why he was playing it. He responded that ARC Raiders had made some updates and announcements that disappointed him personally, so he wanted to give the new extraction shooter a shot.

TheBurntPeanut even had a full blown (and understandable) crashout when his chat kept hating on the game on the day it launched.

"If we keep dogging on new games, what you're gonna have, until you're 90, is Call of Duty 56, Halo 72, that's what you gonna get,"

he said, while seemingly losing his patience the more he thought about the topic:

"Let them cook! Let them cook or you gonna get Call of Duty 96. I'm not living with Call of Duty 96. I can't do Call of Duty 96!"

Peanut is known for his loud personality, but this was honestly the first time I saw him lose his voice during a crashout. So even though there is definitely room for improvement within Marathon, maybe don't hate on it for no reason. If you don't like the game, that is absolutely fine, but please don't hate just to hate, because I can't do Call of Duty 96 either.
