Ian McKellen Might Come Back As Gandalf
Ian McKellen has reportedly been asked to reprise the role of Gandalf in Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum.
The actor told Big Issue that even though the movie revolves around Gollum, Gandalf will have his place in the story.
I’ve just been told there are going to be more films and Gandalf will be involved, and they hope that I’ll be playing him. When? I don’t know. What the script is? It’s not written yet. So they better be quick.
McKellen is referring to his age, which should compel the writers to finish the script faster, if they want him to play Gandalf again.
We expect great things from Andy Serkis, and he seems absolutely psyched about the project.
They were saying, ‘Andy, we really want to reinvigorate Middle-earth. There are so many fresh stories that we want to get involved with. We want to launch this new wave by taking us back into the world of Gollum.' They asked me to direct. This is a dream come true, to work with the people I love working with, in a country I adore working in.
I have to say, it's a daring approach to try to make a movie centered around Gollum after the disastrous game, but I do believe that a movie around him, could be awesome.
I just hope that Gollum doesn't lose too much of the mystery that surrounds his character.
