Disney has released its first trailer for the upcoming Pinocchio live action remake, slated for Disney+ on September 8, 2022. Whilst we might not have got a release date with this new trailer, we most certainly did get a good look at Tom Hanks. Wait, Tom Hanks is in this movie? Well, thanks for asking these incredibly obvious question, yes, Tom Hanks is in Disney's new Pinocchio movie.

We do hope that this particular remake isn't quite as much of a travesty as Disney's other live action remakes have been. From the painful dullness of Beauty and the Beast starring Emma Watson, to the incredibly terrible Lion King remake, Disney really have been on a losing streak as of late. If they butcher Pinocchio for us, though? Yeah, we'll never bloody forgive them!

Just a fun fact before we begin, though: did you know that the original Walt Disney Pinocchio movie came out in 1940? Yeah, I just found that out, it's wild, isn't it? Just forking crazy! Still, with the insane amount of stuff that is on Disney+ now, they're going to have to bring home the ponies if they want to make waves with something like this. Seriously, this is a classic movie. Don't fork it up.

What the Living Heck is Tom Hanks Doing in Pinocchio?

Look, Tom Hanks is clearly in Pinocchio to make the ocean of middle-aged mums squirm in their seats when they take their kids to see a live action reincarnation of this classic movie. It's actually a perfect business model, if you think about it. Allure the kids with Pinocchio, a tale as old as time, and allure the mums with Tom Hanks, a man whose sauciness has become synonymous with that particular demographic. Anyway, to answer your question, Tom Hanks is not going to be Pinocchio. That would be wild, though.

In a way, though, could Tom Hanks' Pinocchio feature be a real-life wish-come-true?

Pretty, huh? I'll bet a lot of you folks don't believe that, about a wish comin' true, do ya? Well, I didn't, either. Of course, I'm just a cricket singing my way from hearth to hearth, but let me tell you what made me change my mind. — Jiminy Cricket, Pinocchio (1940)

Wait, so who is Tom Hanks in Pinocchio?

Look, our best guess from the trailer is that he is Mister Geppetto, the old man who created Pinocchio. That's actually pretty funny, to be honest. Look, I know that to say that this is our "best guess" seems a little redundant because it is god-darn obvious, but it hasn't been confirmed yet, so I am not going to tell you that it is one hundred percent certain at this point.
