Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse includes some hints that one of its major characters could be trans.
Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse had some issues when it hit theaters, but still managed to become one of the biggest hits this year during its opening week. One great thing about the movie is how inclusive it is and the way it promotes those values! In a plot line that is all about cross-universal diversity, that makes total sense.
Ever since the movie released, fans have been eagerly uncovering details hidden in the background, including some hints, that Gwen Stacy (one of the major characters) could in fact be transgender, or at the very least, strongly supporting trans-rights.
Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse | Why Gwen Stacy Could Be Trans
Those of you that have seen the first Spider-Verse movie are already familiar with Gwen Stacy, an alternate universe Spider-Man who has been serving as the primary love interest of Miles Morales.

With her return for the sequel (including more information regarding her character), fans have been able to uncover some details, which could be hinting at her gender identity.
Throughout the movie, there are multiple LGBTQ+ symbols associated with the character, like Gwen's suit being the colors of the trans flag, or a literal trans flag hanging in her room, printed with the words “Protect Trans Kids.”
While those might not necessarily be a sign of Gwen herself being trans (she could simply like those colors and advocate for trans rights), the next Easter egg is more conclusive.
In the movie, fans get a first look at Gwen Stacy's father, who is a police officer. For those of you who paid close attention to detail, you might have been able to spot a trans flag pinned to his uniform that can be seen for a brief moment.

Normally, police officers aren't really allowed to alter their uniform like this, but Gwen's dad went out of his way to do so. It would only make sense for him to do so as a way to show support for his daughter.
On the other hand, they probably would have cast a trans voice actor for the character if they wanted to send an inclusive message to fans, like they did with The Last of Us.
No matter if Gwen Stacy ultimately turns out to be trans, the message the movie sends is clear. Trans lives are human lives, and Gwen Stacy is supposed to be a character that promotes this message!
