While Path to Glory is just one of many events in FIFA 23's World Cup mode, it's perhaps the most important. Why? At least when we are talking about the World Cup mode in FIFA 23, we're hyped. While we would be fine without the World Cup being in Qatar, the content for Ultimate Team is preeeeetty exciting.

Path to Glory is one of them... and here's everything you need to know about it. We explain the system and show you all players and upgraded stats.

Path To Glory In FIFA 23: PTG Upgrades Explained

Path to Glory is a new promo in FIFA 23 that is part of the World Cup mode. We can enjoy a lot of new special cards and... hooray!... they are even dynamic this time. Depending on how the national teams perform at the World Cup, a few players can get some sick upgrades. You can compare Path to Glory to the annual Road to the Finals promo.

Only small upgrades are included for starters but by the end of the 2022 World Cup, they can earn up to 5 different upgrades – the requirements for these are:

  • Qualify from group stages (+1 IF Upgrade)
  • Win round of 16 (+1 IF Upgrade)
  • Win Quarter Finals (Weak Foot Upgrade to 5*)
  • Win Semi Finals (Skill Moves Upgrade to 5*)
  • World Cup Champion (+1 IF Upgrade and 3 new Traits)

Not only do the stats go up, but also the players' Weak Foot and Skill Moves. Noice.

PTG Team 2 Release

Path to Glory Team 1 was live from Friday, November 11, to November 18, 2022. As always, they were included in packs at 6 p.m UK time (10 p.m. PDT). There were SBCs, Objectives and a Mini-Release as add-on.

Team 2 is now live and will be available from Friday, November 18 to Friday, November 25. Then the items will be replaced by the new Black Friday promo.

Qualification For Round Of 16 – Current Player Upgrade Chances

As previously mentioned, the first dynamic upgrade will be awarded to national teams qualifying from the group stage. Some teams have already been able to show promising performances at the World Cup... so, for the following players, it's quite likely that they will get improved stats in the near future:

  • Bernardo Silva & Palhinha (Portugal)
  • Christopher Nkunku & Antoine Griezmann (France)
  • Vinicius Jr. & Bruno Guimaraes (Brazil)
  • Romelu Lukaku & Yannick Carrasco (Belgium)
  • Jack Grealish & Kyle Walker (England)

The co-favorites from Germany and Argentina, on the other hand, still have to get two wins in the remaining two games to be sure of making it to the knockout stages. Germany in particular has a tough opponent in front of them in Spain, the PTG players really have to worry about their upgrade.

After upsetting Wales, even Iran has a decent chance of progressing through the group stage. Serdar Azmoun could become an interesting trading object, keep an eye on his price. For the Welsh, only one point after two games will probably not be enough to advance further in the tournament. In the end, the Aaron Ramsey SBC will probably not be as valuable as Showdown Davy Klaasen...

Path To Glory Upgrade Tracker

The PTG players in FIFA 23 are complete, each nation has received at least one card. With our tracker, you can keep track of all upgrades. SM means Skill Moves, WF Weak Foot. You can also see the star upgrades (available from the quarter-finals onwards).

GS stands for Group Stage. If a nation progresses, we'll set a tick (✓). Last 16 stands for round of 16, QF for quarterfinals, SF for semifinals and FW means final win. Players are sorted by their OVR. If a nation has no chance of progressing or is eliminated, the player will no longer be bolded.
