Fortnite offers a wide selection of weaponry to shoot, explode, and build your way to victory, with assault rifles sitting at top of many lists as the most consistent, reliable guns.
ARs are often versatile weapons that exceed at mid-range combat, don't have the killing power of long-ranged snipers, and can lose to SMGs and shotguns if used up close, but generally speaking, you should always try to have at least one in your inventory to avoid being caught lacking as the kids say.
Chapter 3 Season 3 of Fortnite features three distinct assault rifles players can mess around with, offering unique playstyles that differ from one another. If you're wondering which one is the best or what should you prioritize to find first, fret not, we're here to help!
What Is The Best Assault Rifle In Fortnite?
There are a total of three assault rifles available in the Chapter 3 Season 3 weapon loot pool. Don't let the small number of ARs fool you, they fill a different niche with varying degrees of effectiveness and long, mid, and sometimes close-combat.
Similar to our list of best shotguns in Fortnite, we'll use stats based on the Epic version of all these assault rifles. Without further ado, let's begin.
Striker Burst Assault Rifle
Undoubtedly the best assault rifle in the game and a contender for best weapon overall in Fortnite. The striker burst AR doesn't work like your typical assault rifle, in fact, it has more similarities to a marksman rifle, as it features a long-ranged scope, shooting in two-round bursts.
It has an impressive 3.86 rate of fire, being capable of upwards of 120 DPS if used accurately. More importantly, it can actually compete with snipers like the DMR, as long as you're in a decent position to take on that long-ranged battle.
Ranger Assault Rifle
A fan favorite of Fortnite fans, the ranger AR is a sturdy, very rounded weapon. It deals considerably more damage than the striker burst but its effective range is smaller, with damage falloff starting at 50 meters.
It has a slow fire rate, so you better make those shots count, because every single one hits like a truck at proper distance. Furthermore, it boasts a 1.5x headshot multiplier, you could theoretically knock someone down before they even have a chance to react. It also has a very decent reload time of 2.3 seconds, making it exceptional in long, drawn-out firefights.
Hammer Assault Rifle
Despite coming in third, the hammer AR is quite good, which speaks volumes of just how reliable assault rifles are in Fortnite. It has a smaller functioning effective range than the ranger AR, but has a better rate of fire and faster reload speed.
Despite doing less damage than the ranger per bullet (27-35) it has a more controllable recoil pattern. If you want an AR for close combat, this is without a doubt your best bet.
We hope this small guide helps you select the right tool for the job on your way to more and more Victory Royales!
