Overwatch 2 is still in its early stages after the release, so there are numerous errors and bugs that need fixing. Recently, a lot of players have received the error "Rendering Device Lost" while playing Overwatch 2. If you are one of those people, here is what you can do to fix it.

How To Fix "Rendering Device Lost" Error In Overwatch 2

This error is already known to the Overwatch developers, as it did not only occur in Overwatch 2, but was already a problem in the earlier version, it appears when you experience a TDR (timeout detection and recovery) incident. However, it is not due to the program itself but to the GPU, which processes intensive graphical processes and may crash from time to time due to several reasons. If you want to solve this problem, just follow the steps below:

1. Close any background applications

You should stop most apps from running in the background, since some might have an impact on your GPU or CPU performance.

2. Check for Windows updates

An outdated version of Windows can often cause applications to stop working properly. To check your Windows for updates, just go to your settings > select "Windows Update" > "Check for Updates".

3. Set your processor speed to its default settings

If you have overclocked your GPU too much, your games can crash. Overclocking your GPU or your CPU is forcing your computer to run faster than it's intended to, which can cause overheating and game crashes.

Check for overheating components:

  1. Open the Task-Manager
  2. Select the "Performance" tab
  3. Check the temperature for your CPU and GPU

4. Update your GPU drivers

  1. Open the Device Manager
  2. Go to "Graphic Cards"
  3. Right-click on the entry for your graphics card (do it for both if you have multiple)
  4. Select Update Driver

Hopefully this was of any help to you, and you managed to find a solution for yourself. If you're interested in more content on Overwatch 2 feel free to check this out:
