"I Want To Make The Best Game Ever" – Shroud And Sacriel Announce Project Astrid

Former CS:GO pro Michael 'Shroud' Grzesiek is probably the world's most famous FPS content creator. And now, like Dr Disrespect, he's actually going to make his own game. But, against expectation it's not going to be an FPS.

Sacriel and Shroud are both huge streamers who mostly play FPS games, but they also play other genres and spend a lot of time just chatting. And in recent months they've both expressed their disappointment with the current gaming landscape (in fairness, this was before we got all the exciting CS:GO 2 news).

So, what are they going to do about? Just whine and bitch and tweet away? Nope. They're just going to make their own game.

Shroud & Sacriel To Help Make Open-World Survival Game

Shroud and Sacriel recently announced a new partnership with studio Splash Damage to make a triple-A game. Splash Damage are a UK-based studio best known for Quake Wars, Gears Tactics and assisting on games like Gears 4&5 and the Halo MCC. They were bought out by Tencent in 2020 and seemingly have much bigger ambitions going forward.

What do we know about the game? Only that it is currently being called Project Astrid, it's many years away from release, and it's an open-world survival game:

We want to build the best survival game ever, and with Sacriel’s brain and Splash Damage’s team, I know we can do it.

That's literally the only thing they've revealed about the game. We will keep you updated as soon as we have any other news or leaks.

Do you like seeing developers enlist the help of former Pro-gamers? If so, check out how surprisingly well received XDefiant was recently (they've hired former CoD world champion Aches as a game designer).

We might be waiting a long time for this game, but there's some good stuff coming this year to keep us busy:
