Starfield: Affliction & Prognosis System

Starfield features a fairly complex rule of affliction mechanics. The basic afflictions will have only a single symptom, such as Lung Damage. The longer you'll have the condition, the worse it gets. The worst afflictions will have up to three symptoms at the same time and will greatly affect you.

Beside the affliction mechanic, there is also the "Prognosis system". This system will determine how long it takes for an affliction to heal on its own, if you don't treat yourself. It ranges between "Poor" to "Excellent".

But keep in mind: A "poor" prognosis will never heal on its own, it will only slightly improve over time.

That's a lot to take in! But it's worth learning to cure them in the open field. Leaving some of those ailments untreated could potentially doom you for good.

If you happen to be in town, you can also visit a doctor and patch yourself up. This will cost you a certain price, but they can heal any negative status effect.
