Top 10 Upcoming Xbox Series X Games in 2021

1-10

There's more to Xbox than the Master Chief

Fable

Fable | Release Date: Sorry, no clue. | Watch the trailer | We’re cheating. We don’t know if it’s even releasing in 2021, but it’s Fable, goddammit. How could we not put it on this list? Every chance we get we need to bring up this Microsoft exclusive fairy-tale come to (digital)-life thanks to the original mastermind Peter Molyneux. What will Fable bring to the table? Fairies, fantasy, swords, magic… we know that. Few series are as hyped for every single entry and maybe this Fable is the one to rule them all. We hope so. Oh god, we hope so. | Image Credit: Playground Games

Far Cry6

Far Cry 6 | Release Date: April 2021-September 2021 | Watch the trailer | Originally, Ubisoft was planning to release Far Cry 6 in February, but… Corona struck again. Damn you COVID. Now we have this vague date to deal with until we finally get to see Giancarlo Esposito in our favorite open-world Ubisoft game (sorry AC, sorry Immortals…). One worry remains though: Will Far Cry 6 just rehash the same old formula in a prettier dress? We hope it brings something new to the table | Image Credit: Ubisoft

Senua

Senua's Saga: Hellblade | Release Date: 2021 | Watch the trailer | A Microsoft exclusive, crafted by Ninja Theory, and the follow up to arguably one of the biggest surprise hits of 2017. The original game cleverly tacked mental health awareness in a God of War meets Dark Souls game. Yup… that sounds as creative as it was, and it was as genius as it was creative. The question here is: How will the sequel follow up? We hope for longer playtime and have no doubt that, visually, the game will be insane (get it… insane…). | Image Credit: Ninja Theory

DL2

Dying Light 2 | Release Date: 2021 | Watch the trailer | A game about what could’ve been if Corona had a zombie mutation. Originally revealed at the E3 2018, we’re still waiting and we’re slightly worried: First person? Check. Dystopian open world? Check. High expectations? Check. Delays? Check. Dying Light… if CDPR is developing you, blink twice. Developer Techland insists that the game is still coming and we insist on their insistence because we really want to slash zombies in 4K and 60 FPS (sorry, Xbox Series S, not sorry). In any case, it’s only a matter of time now, right? Right…? | Image Credit: Techland.

Halo

Halo Infinite | Release Date: Wouldn’t we all like to know. 2021, supposedly | Watch the trailer | You might have heard about this game: A guy in a green suit who calls himself the master of all chiefs or Master Chief or something. In this one, he is up against the evil chief of all wars, who calls himself War Chief, in what is merely the most anticipated Xbox Series X game by far. We were supposed to get it at the Xbox Series X launch, but then the internet memes happened. Since Microsoft doesn’t want a Cyberpunk 2077 situation to their name for their biggest exclusive, they pushed it back. We say: Take your time, polish the Chief’s green armor and give us the game we deserve. | Image Credit: Microsoft

Hogwarts Legacy

Hogwarts Legacy | Release Date: 2021 | Watch the trailer | You’re not gonna play as Harry in this one, and you’re not gonna be in modern-day Brexit London. Instead, this takes us back to the 1800s and makes us a wizard forging their own legacy: Choose your Hogwarts House and explore an open world, tame magical beasts and even choose between being a good or a bad guy. Can you call it a Hogwarts fan-fiction come true? It’s not a hard sentence to say, so… probably. Anyway: This game is hype. | Image Credit: Warner Bros

RE8

Resident Evil Village | Release Date: 2021 | Watch the trailer | Set a few years after Resident Evil 7, in Europe and featuring Chris Redfield and Ethan Winters. Should you be hyped for Resident Evil? Well, if you like scary, claustrophobic, third person action with gorgeous graphics and a storyline that eventually goes over the top to the point of B-movie vibes, then… yeah, you should be hyped. We are. It’s another Resident Evil and that’s always a Resident Favorite. Ha. | Image Credit: Capcom

The Ascent

The Ascent | Release Date: 2021 | Watch the trailer | It’s set in an uhm… a… how do we use that word without sending people running? The Ascent is set in a… a cyberpunk world. Yes. There. Bionic arms and all. Yes... it’s a solo & co-op action RPG set on the cyberpunk world Veles. It’s a dual stick game, meaning everybody is going to call it a shooter-Diablo set in a futuristic, dystopian world. We’re not gonna call it that, but… it is exactly that. That’s a good thing though, because that’s what makes The Ascent so intriguing. One of the titles on this list we’re most hyped for. | Image Credit: Neon Giant

Forza Motorsport

Forza Motorsport | Release Date: 2021 | Watch the trailer | Another game affected by COVID and another game we can’t wait for. Unfortunately, even Forza couldn’t out-race the virus. Ha. Ha. Forza is certain to push the new Microsoft system to its visual limits (and the Xbox Series S to its collapse). There isn’t much to say other than: If you want a racing-sim, this is the game you need. | Image Credit: Microsoft

Hitman3

Hitman 3 | Release Date: January 20, 2021 | Watch the trailer | Hey, an actual release date. Didn’t expect that, did you? This game is actually within our and out of Corona’s reach. Hitman 47 pities the fool who thought the last part of the trilogy was gonna be delayed. Actually, he assassinates the fool. In Hitman, you control a… uhm… hitman and you complete… hits… on men. Yeah, talk about an efficient title. This is Hitman 3, so we recommend playing 1 & 2 first, so you won’t be completely lost. If you like third person action with clever stealth, this is the game for you, boo. | Image Credit: IO Interactive.

1-10

The release of both next-gen systems was rocky at best. We can blame Corona for that. Luckily though, we all know that Rony is not allowed in 2021 and thus we can look forward to everything being better, brighter and happier. That also includes the Xbox Series X gaming library. The system that launched without exclusives will finally get some love and we are hyped for it. So hyped, that it’s officially list-o-clock (yeah, deal with it): The 10 best upcoming Xbox Series X games.
