With 21 reviews, this movie scores a glorious 0% on Rotten Tomatoes. And it's not even the only one!

A movie is so unbelievably bad on Rotten Tomatoes that it reaches an incredible 0% in the so-called "Tomatometer". But since these are only ratings from critics, it's worth taking a look at the "Audience Score", where viewers can rate the movie themselves: Even here, this lousy movie only gets 48% from viewers of all kinds.
Why Listen To Some Rotten Tomatoes?
For anyone who doesn't need to see ratings before watching a movie, or who simply isn't a movie fanatic: Rotten Tomatoes is an internet portal where both verified film critics and the general viewer can rate movies and write reviews. The only difference is that critics' ratings are given using a "Tomatometer" from 0 to 100 percent, while viewers' ratings are given as a "Popcornmeter" in order to be able to differentiate. This is because some films are praised to the skies by critics but ridiculed by viewers, or vice versa.

Which Movie Are We Talking About?
We're talking about "Max Steel", a movie about a teenager named Max who manages to control his supernatural abilities with the help of a robot. Together with the robot named Steel, Max then becomes... Max Steel. If that doesn't already overwhelm you with ingenuity, the movie still has a certain quirk to it by mixing coming-of-age elements with the superhero stuff. The funny thing is that this is a live-action adaptation of a children's series that has aired regularly on Nickelodeon since 2013. Not only did the movie get 0% on the Tomatometer out of 21 critics' ratings, but it didn't even get 50% from the general public.

Good Reviews Out Of Spite?
Word has gotten around among movie enthusiasts that the movie has a terrible rating. And so you can find some reviews that give the movie 4-5 stars and you're not sure how serious they are. Many of these reviews say that you shouldn't listen to the critics because they have apparently never seen a good movie. Or that it's a "masterpiece" and a "must-see". Some others may have confused the animated series on Nick with the movie, because the series triggers nostalgia in many young adults.

So Many Bad Movies
0% on Rotten Tomatoes is a feat that only 40 films have achieved (as of the end of 2023). One of these films fared the worst: Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever has 0% on the Tomatometer with 121 ratings. Is this the worst movie ever? Because the movie simply didn't catch on with the general audience either, with only 21% on the popcorn meter. The movie is about two agents in search of a weapon that kills without leaving a trace. The story is apparently to be weak, the characters superficial and the whole plot simply chaotic. But even here, I assume that some of them are pure trolls, because there are some positive reviews, but it's more in the tone of “best movie ever!!!”. Whether the movie is really as bad as it is claimed to be remains open to question.

Who Is Right?
Warcraft proves quite well that critics and viewers don't always have to be on the same wavelength. Because while verified critics couldn't tell one orc from another, the movie achieved exactly what many fans wanted. In return, the movie received a rating of 29% on the Tomatometer.
Yes, the movie is very generic in many places and doesn't get into the nitty gritty of the story (which would probably have us sitting in front of the screen for days), but in general, fans praise the cinematic take on the cult game series. And that's why the ratings differ so much: The movie gets a whopping 76% from its devotees.
