Psyonix Reveals new "The Batman" Crossover Bundle

After a short period of pensive waiting, a brand new "The Batman" bundle has been revealed by Psyonix, celebrating DC's latest film with a brand new Batmobile Car Body and the return of the Gotham City Rumble LTM. Along with the Bat-Signal "shin[ing] high above Beckwith Park", this brand-new bundle will bring joy to any Batman fan. Hopefully, good ol' Robert Pattinson will deliver as Batman or this is going to be a bit of a bittersweet announcement. So... what's the backstory here?

In the dark tunnels below Wayne Manor, a masked man sits alone in contemplative silence. Taking advantage of the momentary lull in crime, he reaches towards his dual-monitor control center, quickly booting up his favorite rocket-powered car soccer game. Little does our hero realize that this respite shall be short-lived, for on March 2 Gotham City will come face-to-face with villains of supersonic ability...

What is in "The Batman" Bundle?

Included in the brand new "The Batman" Bundle is not only a brand new Batmobile but a selection of Paint Finishes, a Goal Explosion, and even more. Here's what you can expect:

  • Batmobile (2022) Body (Dominus Hitbox)
  • Batmobile (2022) Engine Audio
  • Dark Knight Matte Paint Finish
  • Batmobile (2022) Wheels
  • Batmobile (2022) Boost
  • Batmobile (2022) Trail
  • Reel Life Decal
  • The Batman Goal Explosion

What is "The Batman" Bundle's Release Date & Price?

The brand-new crossover bundle will drop on March 2 at a price point of 1100 RL Credits, or the equivalent of $10USD. This will give you access to all the above-listed items, with the Gotham City Rumble LTM becoming available at the same time but being available to all players for free. Both the Bundle and the LTM will be available until March 8.

Gotham City Rumble Limited Time Mode Returns

Available for free to all Rocket League players, the Gotham City Rumble LTM is returning to Rocket League. This is how the game mode has been described by Psyonix:

Power-ups in this LTM work the same as Rumble but are themed after the many villains of Batman’s past. Rack up easy clears with The Joker’s Boxing Glove, grapple through the air with Poison Ivy’s Vines, or slingshot the ball behind you with the Bat-Grapnel. Just don’t let Clayface Spikes slip past you for a goal.

Cryptic Clue Hints At Batmobile Coming To Rocket League

Psyonix have always been an odd bunch, like their decision to name their first car-football game, Rocket League's predecessor, "Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars". This may have resulted in a pretty great set of SARPBC Wheels in Rocket League, but you have to admit... that name, bro, it's terrible! Now, Psyonix have taken to Twitter to frequently hint at new content. This time it's in a very, very unique way.

What is the Psyonix / Rocket League Tweet?

The Psyonix Tweet suggests that you "Go to our site, then search for the cap, a room with no doors in the front or the back". Now, what on earth could that possibly mean? Well, some avid Rocket League fans have figured it out, and the reality is a surprise that will make you smile wider than a Fennec's delicious car body... That cap is Mushroom, and when you search "Mushroom" on the Rocket League website, something very special happens...

Once searched, the word "Mushroom" reveals a secret page on the Rocket League website, a red screen with a hidden message. What could this mean? Let's take a look, here's the text:

BATMAN is COMING to RoCKET LEAGUE. The next message will arrive February 25 @ 10:00am PST.

Well, this is interesting. Batman is mentioned - well specifically, he is confirmed as "Coming to Rocket League" - and there's some kind of cryptic message about... Bacon? Caesar Salads? Bizarre! Oh, and it ends with a bunch of R's and L's. Here's a screenshot of the puzzle, you can also access it via this link:

It seems that the sentence about "Bacon" is some kind of clue suggesting that you need to decipher the bottom. Why? Well, because there are two different kinds of cipher used in the bottom code, apparently. The first is the aforementioned is called a "Bacon Cipher" and the second? You guessed it - a "Caesar Cipher". This is how player's managed to figure out the hidden message...

Is the Batmobile Returning to Rocket League?

The cipher has been translated to reveal "batmobiletwentytwentytwo", proposing that the Batmobile from the upcoming Batman film will be coming to Rocket League. It took a bit, sure, to figure all of this out - but this news? Well, this news is pretty bloody big, and it seems that we will be getting more information on February 25.

Why February 25, though? Well, because it is basically exactly a week before Robert Pattinson's new Batman film "The Batman" releases in theaters. The movie will be the first Batman movie since Ben Affleck left the role, and will be the first with Robert Pattinson in the role of our favorite billionaire superhero.

So that's it, ladies and gentlemen, another cryptic clue solved for you! In regard to "The Batman", did you know that Robert Pattinson originally had an absolutely awful Batman Voice? No? Well now you do. In regard to Rocket League, don't forget to stay tuned on February 25. It seems that big news is coming, big news indeed...
