Warzone 2 DMZ Missions Revealed | Bosses, Extractions & "Weapon Cases"

Warzone's Tarkov-like mode, DMZ, will be released alongside Warzone 2. But thanks to some dataminers who went to town on the MW2 beta, we can already share the "Missions" with you. They tell us a lot about what to expect in DMZ.

Warzone 2 is launching shortly after Modern Warfare 2, but we aren't simply getting the new Al Mazrah map, we're also getting a whole new mode. This new mode will be called DMZ, and it's basically a Tarkov-style experience, like BF2042's Hazard Zone. The mode will be played on the big Warzone map, but it will feature far fewer human players and more AI. And the objective isn't simply to survive, instead you'll be performing certain challenges, or "Missions" and then extract. It seems like a good way to enjoy the new map for those who prefer co-op modes (although there will still be some PvP action, but far less than in the BR).

Thanks to the dataminers who went into the MW2 beta, we're starting to learn lots more than Activision intended. Just last week we got to see the new camo challenges for instance, and earlier today we discovered all of the Missions coming to DMZ. You can find all the Missions below. They tell us a lot about how the new mode will be played.

DMZ Missions Revealed

The dataminer who discovered these Missions has been proven correct on a number of things, even if they're a relatively small name in the world of Warzone leaks. So we're fairly confident in what they've reported, and we're happy to share those Missions with you:

  • Extract X amount of enemy grunt weapons

Mission brief: “Al Qatala has set up several surface-to-air missile sites in the DMZ. There are frequently transport planes flying overhead, SAM sites can shoot them down allowing you to recover their supplies.”

  • Capture X amount of SAM sites

Mission brief: “We need to acquire intel about how Al Qatala is arming its grunts. Bring back some of their weapons so we can analyze them.”

  • Extract X amount of cash in one match

Mission brief: “We are low on coin because of several consecutive botched operations by your fellow soldiers. We need a lump sum urgently for an upcoming mission."

Mission brief: “Transportation options are limited in Saba. Destroy vehicles to immobilize the enemy.”

Those were all the Missions so far. We're particularly excited for Weapon Cases, which hopefully work like Black Market contracts, and award the player with premium weapon blueprints.

What Can We Learn From These Missions?

Here are the biggest takeaways, in case you couldn't be bothered to read the Missions:

  • You can shoot down planes with Surface-to-Air missiles.
  • There's a special shotgun called a "Hail Storm".
  • There are different tiers of AI enemies, from normal to "Special Forces", to bosses.
  • The DMZ location is called "Saba".
  • You can extract enemy player's dog-tags.

So as you can see, the Mission descriptions alone are fairly revealing.

Are you excited about the DMZ? Or are you more interested in the new "Raids" coming to Modern Warfare 2?

There's more than just the DMZ mode to look forward to with Warzone 2.0:
