In FIFA 22, we've got a new SBC in Ultimate Team: You can complete a Mid Icon Upgrade Challenge. We want to show you whether it is worth it and how many coins you have to spend for the SBC.
Now the publisher dropped the Mid Icon Upgrade, after the Base or Mid Icon Upgrade was already available in FIFA 22 for a longer time. So today, we take a look if the new challenge is worth it at all and which are the best icons you can pull.
Mid Icon Upgrade SBC Summary
The Mid Icon Upgrade SBC is available for a relatively short time - you can only complete it until February 12, 2022. But of course it is repeatable, so if you are completely hooked on Mid Icons, you can use a lot of coins and players for it. You have to exchange a total of four teams in order to complete the SBC, which you can see listed here:
|84-rated squad||35K-37K||Small Rare Mixed Players Pack|
|85-rated squad||83K-86K||Prime Mixed Players Pack|
|85-rated squad||87K-91K||Jumbo Premium Gold Pack|
|86-rated squad||138K-148K||Prime Electrum Players Pack|
|Completed Challenge||350K-365K||Mid Icon Pack|
So you have to pay around 350K Coins for the Mid Icon Upgrade SBC in FIFA 22. Honestly, that actually sounds like a reasonable price - and the community thinks so too. The packs you get for each completed part of the challenge are also decent. Of course, 99.999% of the time you won't get good players, but you're always happy to take fodder for new SBCs.
Mid Icon Upgrade SBC – Which Legends Are Worth It?
To answer this question, it's best to take a look at ALL icons which are available in FIFA 22 Ultimate Team. In total, there are 105 icons... and every year, some newcomers celebrate their debut.
Among the absolute high rolls are legendary midfielders and strikers like Ronaldo (R9), Zinedine Zidane, Pele, Johan Cruyff or Eusebio. If you get one of these guys - who are absolutely meta again in FIFA 22 - the SBC is worth it.
Even with "average" players (no disrespect) like Wayne Rooney, Roberto Carlos or Kaká, you still make profit with the Mid Icon Upgrade Pack. Of course, there are also black sheep, which are worth almost nothing on the transfer market in FIFA 22.
So if you've worked pretty hard to earn 350K coins and don't want to take any risks, you should do without the SBC. Otherwise, the price seems pretty fair at first and second glance. Good job, EA.
Is The Mid Icon Upgrade SBC In FIFA 22 Worth It?
As previously mentioned, it depends on your financial situation in FIFA 22. If your account is stacked, you are almost guaranteed to make a profit if you complete the SBC several times. If you only have enough money for one icon, you run the risk of packing Deco, Bobby Moore or Jari Litmanen...
