Halo Infinite's latest event has arrived. It's called Cyber Showdown and together with a bunch of new rewards, it also introduced a brand-new game mode: Attrition. This mode will be available for the duration of the Cyber Showdown event in Halo Infinite. But what is Attrition? How does it work, and how can you play it? Find out here!
What Is Attrition In Halo Infinite?
Attrition is a limited-time game mode in Halo Infinite and basically a new Slayer-variant with shorter rounds and some twists. Unlike other types of Slayer in Halo Infinite, Attrition gives your team a limited amount of lives, which you are all sharing together. Here is the official description by 343 Industries from Halo Waypoint:
Attrition is a frantic new Slayer mode where lives are shared across your team. Each team has a limited number of lives—revive your teammates when they fall and work together to deplete the enemy’s lifepool to finish them off. Last team standing wins! It’s classic, competitive 4v4 action with a unique spin on how you operate as a team.
The major twist of this Slayer-variant is obviously that you can revive your teammates. This is actually really cool. It gives the tried-and-true Slayer format a fun, new tactical layer. You need to be quick though, as everyone will respawn automatically after 10 seconds, just as usual. So keep your eyes peeled, especially since some weekly challenges require you to not just win Attrition matches or kill enough Spartans in the mode, but also to revive enough teammates.
Another cool aspect of this mode is the small number of lives per team. This makes the rounds super quick and Attrition in Halo Infinite ends up feeling fast-paced and intense. We really like this mode and recommend checking it out, especially if you want some reprieve from Tactical Slayer and the other Deathmatch-modes that were added to Halo Infinite recently.
How Can I Play Attrition In Halo Infinite?
Attrition is available at the top of the playlists under the "Multiplayer" tab in the main menu. During the Cyber Showdown event, you can hop over to the menu and select the mode, just like with any other mode.
