Sony's State of Play was held on June 2, and it was chock-full of great announcements and showings. With E3 2022 being canceled, publishers are taking it into their own hands to present us with new and exciting previews of their video games. This State of Play opened the Summer Games Fest and had a surprisingly good offering for us.

Let's check out everything at the June State of Play, including Resident Evil 4, Final Fantasy 16, Street fighter 6 and more!

Every Game at the June State of Play

Resident Evil 4 Remake

It has been long rumored, and it turns out to be real: the Resident Evil 4 remake is happening. And it's coming out in less than a year! The short trailer presented some iconic locations and characters from the 2005 original. But the remake looks a lot darker than the old version (honestly, they said "screw Gamma"). If it's even half as good as Village, then we're in for something special here.

The Resident Evil 4 remake will be released on March 24, 2023 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam.

Street Fighter 6

We already expected to see SF 6 at this show but damn... it still surprised the heck out of me. There will be an... open-world adventure mode? In Street Fighter? What? Of course the fighting looks as fun as ever and the legends are all here as well, looking as beautiful as ever (Ryu with a beard... I can't even). But the new adventure mode is the showstopper here. Very exciting to see what Capcom came up here to put new life into this legendary series.

Street Fighter 6 is coming next year to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Steam, and Xbox Series X|S.

The Callisto Protocol

This game looks amazing and spooky. The Callisto Protocol is the new game by former developers of Dead Space. And you know what? You probably could have guessed that from watching the trailer. Check it out!

The Callisto Protocol's release date is December 6, it's coming out on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.

Stray

We here at EarlyGame love Stray and honestly... how could you not? You're a cute little cat in a beautiful and exciting Cyberpunk world. This is, already, the perfect game.

Stray will be released on July 19 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. PlayStation Plus members will get the game without any additional cost.

Final Fantasy 16

The last big thing of the show was the latest trailer for Final Fantasy 16. And boy, did it deliver on our hype. This game looks absolutely amazing. Especially the summons, they're the star of the show. Man, it feels good to be excited about a Final Fantasy game again...

Final Fantasy 16 will be released in summer 2023, exclusively on PlayStation 5 and PC.

State of Play June: The Best of the Rest

These were our highlights of the show, but there were plenty of other announcements and games as well. Here is a short rundown of the rest of the games:

  • Spider-Man Remastered is coming to PC! Release Date: August 12.
  • Rollerdome is the new game by the developers of OlliOlli, and it looks super fun. Release Date: August 16, PS5 & PS4.
  • A bunch of VR stuff! PSVR 2 is coming and Sony showed a number of games coming to the platform in the near future: No Man's Sky VR, Horizon: Call of the Mountain, Resident Evil Village & more!

And that's all on the June State of Play. Which announcement was your favorite one?
