The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. You know it. You either watched it, or were too scared to. Plus, if you're my age, you watched it when you weren't supposed to. Why? Well... the name is a dead giveaway: This sh*t is violent, and now this violent sh*t is getting a game. We rumored as much a while back, but now we have more info.

We're Getting a Chainsaw Massacre Game

Who will be helming this violent gore-fest? Well, Gun Interactive. Yup. The makers of Friday the 13th (the game, not the movie), a game that is essentially Dead By Daylight, but got lost in obscurity for reasons unexplained. Gun Interactive will now have their second run at delivering an asymmetrical, multiplayer horror experience, on the back of one of horror's most iconic IPs. The devs promise "an authentic gaming experience based on the groundbreaking 1974 film”, and we've heard too many of these promises to just believe it. What's more interesting is this quote:

Asymmetrical, multiplayer horror is nothing new to Gun, creators of Friday the 13th: The Game. But working with a team of killers? Well, that’s a whole new world. While it is true that most folks seem to think of asymmetrical gameplay as 1 vs Many, in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, the family is an important part of the story to tell. How each member of the family works within the greater team, well that’s completely up to you. A deep metagame and progression system will give you the tools to pick your place at the family table.

Sounds interesting, right? I'm hoping they deliver, because Friday the 13th was just inches away from being a game, and the asymmetrical multiplayer scene needs more variety. The only thing I'm worried about is that the game might be a bit too violent to find mainstream appeal... The release date is supposed to be late 2022 or 2023, so we're probably gonna have to wait awhile to find out. For now, here's the trailer from the Game Awards:
