Overwatch 2 Patch Notes For November Mid-Season Balancing Update

Blizzard made major changes to some characters to ensure fair matches with balanced heroes. Although the biggest changes will come with the start of Season 2 in December, Blizzard has just released the mid-season patch. One of the current biggest problems in Overwatch 2 is that playing a healer is just incredibly exhausting, which is why many matches are lacking supporters. Instead of strengthening the support role, Blizzard decided to nerf DPS and tanks, which is a questionable decision.

Originally the changes were planned to go into effect with an update on November 14, but due to some major issues with the new patch, the update got delayed to November 17. But anyway... now we have them, let's see what has changed.

Audio Transcription

With the release of Overwatch 2 in October, Blizzard also introduced a new system designed to identify toxic players, the Defence Matrix.

In order to detect players with toxic and offensive behavior, Blizzard will record voice chat audio. This recording will then be automatically converted to a text file and the original audio recording will be deleted. If a player gets reported, the transcribed conversations can be used to prove whether they used offensive language or violated the guidelines in any way.

Players will now see a notification when entering voice chat for the first time during a play session indicating that voice chat may be recorded.

Crossplay and Aim Assist

In the past, aim assist was disabled for console players when they were in a group with at least one PC player. But console players were at a disadvantage when playing with a controller without aim assist. Since this was deemed quite unfair, Blizzard has re-enabled aim assist for console players, except for competitive mode, but that doesn't support crossplay anyway. This change improves the overall experience for console players and encourages friends to form a team regardless of platform.
