Best Hitboxes in Rocket League

1-4

Octane or Dominus?

Rocket League -
Breakout hitbox rocket league

4. Breakout Hitbox

Breakout is an absolute beast in Rocket League. Widely regarded as one of the best competitive hitboxes in the game, the Breakout is widely used amongst high-ranking players and Esports Pros. It's an insanely narrow vehicle, and with the smallest hitbox width in Rocket League. Thus, it can be a little harder to hit the ball with it, but if you do then you can be far more precise with the Breakout Hitbox.

There are not as many cars that feature the Breakout Hitbox. In fact, there is only the Animus GP, the Breakout itself, the Breakout Type S, the Cyclone, the Komodo, and the Samurai. In other words, there are only six vehicles that use the Breakout, making it one of the most exclusive Rocket League hitboxes out there. The Breakout Hitbox has graced our presence in Rocket League since way back in 2015, and is the perfect way to fight it out in a Rocket League Arena, with a few mates, and a whole lot of courage. | © Psyonix

3. Hybrid Hitbox

Okay, we know what you're about to say – "That's an Endo, not a Hybrid." Yes, that's true. The Hybrid Hitbox is one of very few that are not based on a car of the exact same name. In fact, there are a total of twelve Hybrid Hitbox vehicles in Rocket League: Endo, Esper, Fast & Furious Nissan Skyline, Fast & Furious Pontiac Fiero, Insidio, Jäger 619 RS, Nimbus, R3MX / R3MX GXT, Tygris, Venom, X-Devil, and the X-Devil MK2. Wow, that's a whole lot of Rocket League Vehicles, isn't it? Should you check some of them out? Well, yes, because the Hybrid Hitbox is absolutely fantastic!

The Hybrid Hitbox is very similar to a Dominus, but is a tad higher and balanced in a subtly better way. As we mentioned in our Hybrid Hitbox guide, it has fantastic handling, is very manoeuverable, has the second best turning radius for any Rocket League hitbox, and is absolutely ideal for defence. It has an outstanding turning speed, and is insanely versatile, with the perfect combination of both height and length. Get used to being goalie with this one, though, so if that's not your thing... then you should probably check out something a little different... | © Psyonix

2. Dominus Hitbox

The Dominus Hitbox is one of the most successful and popular Rocket League hitboxes. It's perfect for beginners, and is insanely well-balanced. There are so many vehicles that feature a Dominus Hitbox, though, that we won't list them here. Instead, we have an entire article dedicated to just that! Some of the absolute highlights of the Dominus Hitbox type, though, are the '89 Batmobile, 007's Aston Martin Valhalla, DeLorean, the NASCAR vehicles, and the McLaren 570S. Honestly, it makes us excited just speaking of these Battle Cars. They are just that cool!

Now, yes, there is actually a vehicle called the Dominus, so that's what you can see in the above diagram. The Dominus is one of the longest vehicle hitboxes in Rocket League. It's perfect for quick saves and reaching the ball before your opponents. It's quite low, however, but what it lacks in height it makes up for with that insane length. This makes it one of the best cars to use when you want to reach the ball and execute fast flicks and last-second goal saves. Honestly, if you follow our advice and become a Dominus Pro, you will be up there with the big-boys. It's a fantastic hitbox! | © Psyonix

Rocket league octane hitbox 4wd

1. Octane Hitbox

The Octane hitbox is not only the most classic hitbox in Rocket League, but also the game's best hitbox. It is sleek and sexy, but manages to provide us with the most ideal dimensions that are available in the game. The "Best Vehicle in Rocket League" conversation always comes down to whether the Octane or the Fennec is the best battle car. It's an ironic conversation, because the Fennec actually has the Octane hitbox. The thing is, though, that the Fennec fits the hitbox better than the Octane itself, creating a lot of debate in the community. Again, there are too many vehicles to list here, but just trust us: there are a lot of absolute bangers that feature the Octane hitbox!

The Octane hitbox is relatively short in length, but the highest in the game. This brings increased ball control, since you have a higher surface area at the front of your vehicle, which is especially evident when playing a Fennec. As we said in our guide to the Octane hitbox, this is the most common Rocket League hitbox, and is insanely customizable. It's probably the most responsive hitbox in Rocket League, with the biggest variety of options to choose from. It is for this reason that the Octane hitbox is, unequivocally, the best hitbox in Rocket League! | © Psyonix

1-4

There are a total of six hitboxes in Rocket League. The decision to move from each Rocket League car having its own hitbox came a number of years ago to improve the game's overall balance and fairness. It certainly worked, with it being legitimately difficult to really answer the question "Which Rocket League Car is the Best?" or, perhaps, or "Which Rocket League Hitbox is the Best?". Each hitbox is balanced differently, has different strengths and weaknesses, and a combination of different factors that a good player should be looking out for.

In reality, when a new car gets released in Rocket League, everyone's first question is, simply, "Which hitbox does it have?" The answer often informs purchasing decisions, seeing as that everyone has a favourite hitbox, and if a vehicle does not fit within that Hitbox then there is little interest to be had. It is surprising, then, that Season 5's Nexus has chosen a Plank Hitbox, as most seasonal cars will have one of the two major hitboxes – Dominus or Octane. Each Rocket League Season has a different leading Battle Car that it promotes as the next big thing. It has been failing as of late, with the Tyranno, Outlaw, and Nexus all being rather lackluster vehicles. That being said, the question of their hitbox, is still uniquely important...

I mean, if your favourite hitbox was featured in the upcoming Season's Rocket Pass, wouldn't you just be insanely hyped (assuming that the car doesn't look as ugly as that freaking Outlaw monstrosity!)? Hitboxes change the way you play Rocket League, and by extension, the way that you engage with the game. Thus, it is crucial to define what newcomers should be looking for, especially when there are six hitboxes to choose from. Let's start with a simple question: what are the best hitboxes in Rocket League?
