Cauldron familiar — **CAULDRON FAMILIAR:** How can a kitty this cute be so dangerous? Well, when you put it in the oven to make some Food, then it returns to drain your opponent and *then* you repeat the combo again and again, that's how. Who thought playing cards for free was a good idea? Simply put, this little cato was too good for Standard and it had to go. Rakdos Sacrifice is still a thing in Historic, though! Escape the wilds — **ESCAPE THE WILDS:** This one exiles cards and allows you to play them later - usually lands. You can also play extra lands. Who thought playing cards for free was a good idea? (Image Credit: Wizards of the Coast)

Fires of invention — **FIRES OF INVENTION:** Let's see if you sense a pattern here. This one allows you to play cards without paying their mana costs. Once Upon a Time — **ONCE UPON A TIME:** Once upon a time, there was a card. Reading it went like this: "You can cast this one for free, yadda-yadda-yadda. Oko thief of crowns — **OKO, THIEF OF CROWNS:** Look at this smug idiot with his boy band aesthetics turning everything into elks. And we do mean everything - not only did he destroy Standard, but also Historic, Modern, and even the oldest formats in the game! Throne of Eldraine was an absolutely brilliant set. Lucky Clover — **LUCKY CLOVER:** Good luck playing this one in Standard, amirite? The clover was an innocent idea and a nice drafting piece before the combo went out of control and completely dominated Standard. Lovestruck Beast is cute and all, but Lucky Lovestruck Beast is scary as all hell! (Image Credit: Wizards of the Coast)

Uro titan of natures wrath — **URO, TITAN OF NATURE'S WRATH:** And here we go! Theros is considered a somewhat underpowered set coming on the heels of Throne and War of the Spark, but man, did this Titan destroy everything with his overpowered ability. Nature's Wrath? Omnath is erased from MTGA — **OMNATH, LOCUS OF CREATION:** And lastly, we have the elephant in the room. The four-armed elemental elephant with the overpowered ability, that is. We thought it was good for Commander and we knew he will be played in Standard, but when the Magic Grand Finals ended in a mirror Omnath finals, we knew there was a big problem. Bye-bye, Omnath! Magic: The Gathering's Standard is having one of the roughest times in history, from having next to no bans for years to new cards being made illegal as soon as they arrive pretty much every set. This is really frustrating to all sorts of players - from kitchen table Timmys, all the way to pro circuit grinders.

Today we are paying tribute to all the banned cards in Standard by admiring their amazing artwork and lamenting their loss.... well, not really, we hate some of them. Think of this as the MTGA Standard Memorial. Boo-hoo!
